Team Building Activity March Break

During the week of March 12 – 16, 2018 when the students of St. Clair College @ Acumen were enjoying their March Break, the staff of each department joined various activities organized by their Directors. These activities were held in order to strengthening employee relations and build the teamwork within the company. The Student Services department decided to attend a painting class at the Apollo School of Art, where the team was guided by a professional instructor to paint a beautiful piece of art selected by the participants. This was a place to let everyone’s imagination and creativity to come alive and to have the experience to work as a team in the different environment. After the paintings were complete, everyone went to enjoy lunch at one of the traditional Chinese restaurants. The Academic department went for the afternoon tea to a local place called T-Buds. This unique activity provided a great way for everyone to connect on an informal personal level while sharing a cup of tea with desserts. The warm atmosphere allowed the staff members to share their stories and plans for the future and to get to know each other on a deeper level. Finally, the Admission and Facilities department went to World Bowl for an afternoon of bowling. It was a very effective way for all the staff to get to know each other as the department has been recently restructured. The activity was very entertaining as everyone got a chance to cheer on and support each other. The team building activities always take an integral part of Ace Acumen Academy’s culture as they bring staff together outside of their workplace and help to make stronger relationships, which is incredibly important for any healthy organization.

Ripley Aquarium High School Trip

On Wednesday, March 14th, Ace Acumen High School organized an excursion to Toronto Ripley’s Aquarium. Our students got an amazing opportunity to meet the 10,000 marine animals that inhabit the Aquarium: fish, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and marine mammals. Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is divided into geographic regions according to features and characteristics of different environments around the planet such as: Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, all containing species that are unique to those regions. It takes a few hours to walk through the place and it’s not only beautiful, but very educational. The various displays are amazing, though Ace Acumen Students particularly liked the big fish tanks with the glass tunnels, and the jellyfish exhibit. Don’t forget to pass by the last open tank by the shop and touch the manta rays!

The Principal Lunch

The Principals Lunch with Class Representatives has been a tradition at Acumen continuing this year on February 15, 2017, just after Valentine’s day where students share all their concerns along with the school management, heads of departments such as Students Services and Academic Services and their peers to work and plan activities, improve class schedules and breaks and so forth. Principal John Wu discussed the involvement of Class Representatives in important tasks such as maintaining a positive student livelihood during their studies and ensuring a harmonized environment between study and free time on campus. Students also took interest in assisting staff with keeping watch for student behaviour and student welfare on campus. The ‘Principals lunch’ gave both students and staff a chance to get to know each other and to ensure a collective effort in the future to ensure a happy and successful student experience during their time here at St. Clair College @ Ace Acumen.

St. Clair College @ Ace Acumen Academy Career Fair

St. Clair College @ Ace Acumen Academy hosted our annual Job Fair on Monday 26th of February, 2018. The Job fair gave our students a chance to interview with a variety of prestigious potential employers. The companies in attendance of the Job fair were; TD Canada Trust, Sun Life Financial, GIDDS, LA Fitness, Ace Acumen Academy, CP Trip, Arrow, Yuan Travel and Exocloud. Over 75+ of our students had the chance to interview with the companies that were in attendance with 14 students being offered a second interview; LA Fitness: 3, Yuan Travel: 2, GIDDS: 2, Sun life Financial: 2, TD Canada Trust: 2, Exocloud: 2 and CP Trip: 1. Alongside this number the offer of internships and other employment opportunities from the companies that were in attendance. Although, not every student did secure a second interview, the St. Clair College @ Ace Acumen Academy Job Fair gave our students a chance at an invaluable experience, professional interviewing with some companies of which are the forerunners of their industries. We here at St. Clair College @ Ace Acumen Academy would like to thank the employers who came and our students, past and present, for donning their best professional attire and attitudes which made the Job Fair a huge success. We here @ Ace Acumen Academy would like to wish all our students the best of luck with their search for their future careers.
