2024 Alumni Achievement Awards Dinner

On August 20th, we celebrated our annual Alumni Achievement Awards Dinner, proudly sponsored by St. Clair College's Alumni Association and Ace Acumen Academy. This memorable event showcased the dedication and perseverance of our alumni, who solidify St. Clair College at Ace Acumen Academy's legacy through their contributions to the field and the community.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming our newest alumni, who had just completed their final exams. The evening was filled with laughter and inspiring speeches, as we formally recognized the outstanding achievements of our alumni and began our search for the 2024 Alumni Achievement Award Recipients. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening a truly memorable one!

Congratulations to our 2024 Alumni Achievement Recipients

Tanveer Kaur, a 2024 graduate of the Social Service Worker - Gerontology program, is currently making a difference as a Social Service Worker at Nisbet Lodge and an Activation Aide at Sienna Senior Living. She plays a key role in supporting elderly individuals, addressing their needs with care and respect. Beyond her professional work, Tanveer has volunteered extensively in mental health and wellness, earning a 60-hour Volunteer Certificate. Her dedication and compassion shine through in both her career and community efforts.

Komal Sachdeva, a 2022 graduate of the Data Analytics for Business program, is an IT Project Manager at Tata Consultancy Services. Recognized for her leadership, Komal volunteers with organizations like GO IT for Kids and the TCS Mentorship program, introducing children to technology. She also mentors students at Ace Acumen Academy, hosting workshops to help them transition from college to the job market and embrace growth opportunities.

Sukhpreet Singh, a 2024 graduate of the Computer Systems Technician - Networking program, is an IT Help Desk Technician at Ace Acumen Academy. He is recognized in the India Book of Records for performing 35 crunches on a bed of nails in one minute. Sukhpreet is also dedicated to raising cybersecurity awareness, educating people on precautions like strong passwords and recognizing online threats. Additionally, he actively volunteers at college events, supporting his peers and contributing to the community.

Komal, a 2022 graduate of the International Business Management program, is a Talent Acquisition Specialist at A&T Human Resources, where she has hired over 100 candidates. Her networking skills and HR contributions have earned her the Top HR Voice badge on LinkedIn. Komal also volunteers with Artists Unbound and Freedom Employability Academy, supports emerging artists, and helps improve employability skills. She offers career advice on Topmate, where she is a Top 1% creator, runs a successful YouTube channel with over 2.6K subscribers and 250,000 views, and holds LinkedIn Learning Certificates in advanced HR strategies and leadership. Please join me in welcoming Komal to the stage.

Manpreet Singh, a 2022 graduate of the Human Resources Management program, is now the Purchasing Manager at Redstone Foods. He advanced from logistics to oversee purchasing, planning, costing, and HR management. Manpreet's success is due to his skill in managing various business aspects. In addition to his professional achievements, Manpreet and his wife are deeply committed to community service. They actively support charitable efforts through Incognite Donations, providing clothes, financial aid, and other essential support directly to those in need. Their dedication to improving their community reflects the values of compassion and service we honor.

Dhwani Dhwani, a 2023 graduate of the International Business Management program, excels as a Repackaging Associate at Probus Logistics, where she oversees operations, meets quality targets, and trains team members. As a Peer Tutor at St. Clair College, she enhanced students' exam and presentation skills and has authored five publications in ISSN journals. Dhwani is dedicated to community service, providing private tutoring, volunteering for environmental initiatives, donating blood, and supporting underprivileged children’s education. Please join me in welcoming Dhwani for her exceptional achievements and commitment.

Alumni Success Stories

Graduating from the Computer Systems Technician Networking program at St. Clair College at Ace Acumen Academy. I started my career as an Inventory Supervisor at WIS International, one of the leading global inventory & data collection services companies.
During my time at Acumen, I took advantage of the career service, which was helpful in refining my resume & preparing me for the job market. I also had the privilege of serving as a student liaison, where I attended various events & even organized a few.
The professors were truly outstanding. They have a gift for explaining difficult topics in a way that made them easy to understand. I still have a connection with Ms. Ratinder, one of my favorite professors who continues to guide me whenever I need her advice
My advice to current and future students is simple: be focused and be punctual.

During my time at Acumen, the major hurdle I encountered was adapting to online studies resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, a novel experience for me. Striking a balance between my personal and academic life, I not only overcame this challenge but also excelled, securing academic distinction and earning the Student Leadership Award.

The supportive environment at Acumen, particularly under the guidance of teachers like Rummya and Gurkiran, left a lasting positive impact on my life. Their mentorship contributed significantly to my learning experience.

Post-graduation, I found myself presented with diverse opportunities. I navigated roles ranging from frontline work to a case manager, ultimately landing a position in the government sector. Currently, I contribute to the Saskatoon Police Service and engage in volunteer work supporting victims in their pursuit of justice.

Reflecting on my journey, I'd advise new Acumen students to persist in pursuing their dreams. Upholding patience and dedication, coupled with hard work, yields significant rewards in the end. Remember, nothing is impossible; the payoff is well worth the effort.

I wanted to share an exciting update on my career progress since graduating from ACE Acumen.

I am currently employed as a Safety and Compliance Co-ordinator at Automan Express, one of the prominent transportation companies in Ontario. My role involves ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards within the transportation industry. I am responsible for overseeing compliance processes, implementing safety measures, and contributing to the company's commitment to excellence.

I believe that my education and training at ACE Acumen played a crucial role in preparing me for this role. The knowledge and skills I gained during my time at the college have been instrumental in allowing me to excel in my current position. The comprehensive curriculum and supportive faculty at ACE Acumen provided me with a strong foundation that I continue to build upon in my professional journey.

I am proud of this accomplishment and attribute a significant part of my success to the education I received at ACE Acumen. I wanted to express my gratitude to the college for its role in shaping my career and enabling me to contribute effectively to the transportation industry.

Currently, I am working as a junior IT analyst for Metrolinx, a Crown agency of the Government of Ontario that manages and integrates road and public transport in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. I am part of a new-grad program, a 24-month rotational program for new or recent graduates to move through a series of placements within the Innovation and Information Technology division. I will have a chance to work within different work streams over the course of three 8-month rotations, gaining a variety of experience and learning from different teams and leaders.
 
My first role in this program is a Reporting Analyst for the Program Management Office. My task involves making reports about all the projects that Metrolinx is running by using Excel and PowerBI. Upon completing the rotations, I will have the opportunity to secure a home position within the Innovation and Information Technology division at Metrolinx.

I’m thankful to St Clair College at Acumen for equipping me with the tools to excel in my career and serve my community.

I am Mukesh Kumar, an alumnus of St. Clair College @ Ace Acumen, where I studied Computer System Technician- Networking. I am so excited to share that I am working as IT Analyst at Libro Credit Union, I always have been passionate about Information technology field. My college experience wasn't just about gaining technical skills; it was about forming connections with both peers and instructors.

This was a great step towards my career as I learned lot of skills during my time there and those are helpful in my present role. I am so proud of it because this is something I wanted to do, and I would like to thank St. Clair College and Faculty members for always being so helpful and supportive. Thank you!!
My journey is a proof to all students that with passion and determination, your dreams can become reality.

I am delighted to share the exciting journey that led me to secure a rewarding field job in Canada after graduating from the International Business Management program in April 2023 , I am applying my skills to the Billyard Insurance Group as a Technical Sales Specialist.

Through strategic networking, tailored my resume to Canadian standards, and aced interviews. Persistence paid off, and proactive career planning helped me to get my field job. I would appreciate St Clair faculty team to guide me in applying jobs and helping me to build my CV.

Upon obtaining my work permit, I was thrilled to receive three job offers. and I chose the best that was aligned to my dreams. While my previous work experience in India provided a solid foundation, the knowledge gained at St. Clair enhanced my skills and significantly contributed to my success.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the St. Clair faculty team for their support throughout this incredible journey. Their guidance, encouragement, and commitment to students have been invaluable.

Since the day I graduated, I was, and I will always be grateful for the lessons and wise advice our instructors of St. Clair @ Acumen had shared with us.

Only thanks to the job fair organized by our college back in 2019 I was able to get my actual first job and acquire valuable hands-on industry experience which not only expanded the field of exposure I could get at such young age but also allowed me to make valuable contacts from seasoned industry experts. As a result, I am now employed as an internal IT support team member for a major bank – Tangerine.

As I mentioned earlier this is just the beginning as I still have a long way to go but without the initial spark perhaps, I would not have been able to come this far, and such well equipped for my future endeavors.
Once again, I would like to Thank all the kind instructors and staff members who made my learning experience at St. Clair @ Acumen so joyful and memorable.
