Empowering Social Service Workers: One Kenton Place

Our Social Service Worker (SSW) program addresses critical labor shortages by providing hands-on education. Through partnerships with institutions like One Kenton Place, students gain practical experience under expert guidance. Phuc and Bableen, two of our students currently placed on site have said that day to day, students get support and guidance staying focused and combining the concepts learned in college with the lessons learned in placement to succeed. Their strong foundational knowledge helps show the supervisors how confident and ready they are to succeed. Recent meetings between Ace Acumen board members and Racheli Balofsky – Director of Recreation at One Kenton Place – highlight our commitment to community collaboration. This real- world training equips graduates with essential skills and confidence for impactful careers in social services.

The collaboration between Ivan Franko Homes (IFH) and St. Clair College at Ace Acumen Academy shines bright as key stakeholders converge for a productive meeting. Led by Board Members John Wu, President, Milly Li, Vice President, and Amit Jan, Vice President, alongside Ivan Franko Homes CEO Olya Vovnysh and Program Manager Natalia Razzaq, the gathering at IFH’s Mississauga location underscores the commitment to fostering positive student placement partnerships. The collaboration supports positive outcomes for students to gain valuable real-world experience that will enhance the achievement of their future career goals. Gratitude abounds as they express appreciation for the enduring collaboration between IFH and our college. Kiran Sharma, one of our current placement students on site, was recognized for her hard work and presented with the “Student of the Month” award, recognizing her for: her outstanding work, dedication, and efforts for the benefits of the seniors of Ivan Frank Homes in Mississauga.
