Together to Protect Against Racism

2020 has been one tough year so far, however with our learning, commitment and resiliency we will all come out through these tough times wiser and better than we were before.
All over the news we have been hearing about the racism that is happening all over North America and the world and the protests that are on going to end the racism.
The message we want everyone to know at Acumen is that we are all in this together. The world has come together to protect against racism. Students, wherever you are, treat everybody equally and respectfully, and in this way, we can do out parts to help end racism.
Thank you and stay safe everyone,

Virtual Jack Talk

Taking Care of Yourself First

One of the most important things in life, not only in normal times, but especially now during the COVID-19 pandemic we are navigating together, is mental health and taking care of ourselves first. At Acumen we promote good mental health.

Acumen has reached out to JackTalk.org and we have acquired a virtual Jack Talk. JackTalk.org empowers young people to educate themselves around mental health and take care of themselves and each other as best as they can. All students were sent the below link where they found the Virtual Jack Talk that they completed on their own from the comfort of their homes.

If you are reading this now, you can also click on the link and participate in the virtual Jack Talk. There are wonderful engagement tasks that will allow you to benefit further from the talk itself.

Remember, take care of yourself and your mental health first, and together we will get through this pandemic and be stronger then ever.
Stay safe,

-Acumen

Pączki Day 2020

Today staff and students celebrated cultural diversity in both Toronto campus and Mississauga campus, where everyone was able to enjoy some delectable donuts and also learned a little bit about this wonderful tradition.

Diversity is what makes Canada, the place we call home so great. We are privileged to have a plethora of different cultures in our country and cities that allows us to always learn something new and interesting, practically every day.

Pączki Day is a time that people of Polish decent traditionally observe the day before Ash Wednesday. Paczki’s are like little jam filled deep fried donuts and historically they were made so that people could use up all sugar, eggs, butter and lard before Lent, during which folks give up an indulgence for 40 days.

Happy Pączki Day everyone!
