Federal government suspends flights from India and Pakistan for…

International students from India and Pakistan scheduled to arrive in Canada in the upcoming weeks will not be allowed to travel for the next 30 days, following the federal government’s announcement Thursday suspending flights from those countries amid surging COVID-19 cases.

The government’s order, effective at 11:30 p.m. April 22, covers commercial and private passenger flights. Passengers arriving to Canada from these countries via indirect route after the order takes effect will need to obtain a negative COVID-19 pre-departure test at their last point of departure.

The COVID-19 immigration regulations permit International students to continue their programs of study remotely from their home country until December 31, 2021. The temporary travel restrictions will not adversely affect the education of those students or their ability to obtain a work permit.

International Women’s Day Talk

Hello Saints! Monday March 8th, was International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. It is also a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence against women.

To celebrate this day, we invited a guest speaker to join us for an empowerment discussion. Katie Keppieri is a TED speaker, writer, social entrepreneur and activist. She gave a talk to our staff and students about positive self image, women’s empowerment, leadership and social media. It was a very inspirational discussion and  was a great way to celebrate all women at Acumen.
