Nutrition Workshop

On Thursday, March 10th, 2022, students celebrated nutrition month by enjoying fruit cups and attending a workshop on the basics of healthy eating. The event helped students to gain information on how they can support their learning at Ace Acumen Academy through nutrition.

When it comes to eating healthily it can be confusing to know where to start. This workshop explains how you can make simple but effective changes to improve your diet, and most importantly your health. Advisors Steven and Amanda explore tips from the Canada Food Guide, and offer some strategies to make healthy eating both accessible and enjoyable!

To those that did not get the chance to join the workshop, you can view the recording below!

Diwali 2021

Diwali, a holiday celebrated in late October or early November across the world, stretches back more than 2,500 years. In India, the five-day celebration traditionally is the biggest holiday of the year. This year, the “light” and “home” were brought to the community by our staff and students at Ace Acumen Academy with decorations, and savory and sweet traditional treats.

Students took pride in telling stories of their own celebrations and were excited to talk about their experiences back home with others. It was surely a joyful festival of lights for the whole community.

As a student said that day, when you look at the candle, think about how flames can flicker or burn brightly. As you go about your day, take opportunities to ensure your flame burns brightly and you are always ready to help others in difficulty. Through patience and perseverance, good will wins over evil.

Happy Diwali to everyone!

Halloween 2021

On October 31, in Canada every year people dress up in spooky costumes, go door to door to “trick” or “treat”, watch Halloween movies, and carve jack-o-lanterns to participate in Halloween. This year, the staff and students at Ace Acumen participated in those same ways. They dressed up in costumes, carved pumpkins and watched a Halloween movie with some Halloween treats!

Towards the end of the day, both staff and students who dressed up in costume took part in a show for students to vote on who had the best costume on. Great prizes were distributed to those who were voted as ‘best costume’.

Ace Acumen wishes all a very Happy Halloween!

Remembrance Day

Thursday, November 11th is Remembrance Day in Canada.

This is an important day in history that we want to spread awareness about to all of our students.

This is a day where we remember our fallen soldiers who have fought and died in the line of duty.
These people gave their lives fighting, to allow us to live our lives the way we do today.
We take this day to remember and honour them, and respect their sacrifice.

In your classes on this day, at 11:00 am, students and staff took a moment of silence, to reflect, and remember.

Please see the attachment below for further information if you are interested in learning more about Remembrance Day, and the video to learn about the poppy and its significance.

Thank you everyone, and stay safe.

Vaccination Guidelines for On-Campus Teaching and Learning Activities –…

St. Clair College at Ace Acumen strongly encourages all individuals to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as they are eligible. Please note that the following is subject to change as the pandemic evolves and as new information becomes available.

St. Clair College at Ace Acumen will follow public health and government guidance related to COVID-19 safety protocols and measures. Due to the severity and extent of the most recent upward trend in COVID-19 occurrence and transmission, St. Clair College at Ace Acumen will be mandating vaccinations or regular testing for all staff and students. St Clair College at Ace Acumen will request that our staff and students voluntarily disclose their vaccination status. Additional information will be forthcoming once the policy is finalized by the end of the week. There will be a section within the policy describing exclusionary grounds for unvaccinated individuals: health difficulties substantiated by a qualified medical practitioner, including allergy to the vaccine(s); and other grounds covered by the Ontario Human Rights Code; or for those who wish to not disclose. Arrangements will be made for such individuals to receive self-administered “rapid testing” for COVID-19 twice weekly and report their results.

Please be advised that St. Clair College at Ace Acumen’s third-party partners (e.g. placement agencies, co-op employers and service providers) may have different standards and COVID-19 safety measures in place. St. Clair College at Ace Acumen has no oversight over its partners’ standards and COVID-19 safety measures. Compliance with those standards and COVID-19 safety measures will be the responsibility of the student.
